If you're not into fishing but would like to enjoy the lower Rogue River another way, John Carl Guide Service offers river tours that feature well-rounded adventures. You may start your tour anywhere on the lower Rogue from Gold Beach to Blossom Bar. It can be designed with a leisurely pace so you can enjoy the tranquility of the beautiful surroundings with narrated highlights as we point out photo opportunities for nature and wildlife.
For the more adventurous, there are plenty of places that feature exciting whitewater. It depends on what you want to experience. The trip can include picnics, hikes, overnight lodging and camp outs on a river bank. You may experience an abundance of wildlife while you are on the river such as river otters, black tail deer, bald eagles, ospreys, black bears and much more.
Because these tours are in the winter and spring months, other highlights are the many waterfalls and small streams that you would not see during the summer months. The tours are designed to keep you comfortable in a covered and heated boat designed for winter travel.
Typically we would start at the river near your lodging. A round trip is planned and the length of your trip depends on you. Drop offs for hikes on the trails, depending on the length of the trip, can range from 3 to 6 hours. A trip that is 104 miles can be done in approximately 4-1/2 hours without any breaks. For longer trips that include a picnic or lunch at one of the lodges, we recommend you to allow 15 to 30 minutes for bathroom breaks.
